Huawei Watch 3: All there is to know about the new Huawei Watch

Huawei has teased a HarmonyOS-themed event on 2 June, but eagle-eyed fans have spotted a reference or two to the long-awaited Huawei Watch 3, suggesting we could see a new wearable revealed at the event.

Will it be the HarmonyOS-based Huawei Watch 3? Rumours suggest it’s more than likely, and we’ve got all there is to know about the upcoming wearable right here.

When will the Huawei Watch 3 be released?

Huawei posted an image on Chinese social media platform Weibo teasing the launch of the Huawei Watch 3 on 2 June 2021.

The company hasn’t explicitly said it’ll be releasing a smartwatch – the teaser focuses on HarmonyOS, Huawei’s new Android-based operating system – but the focal point of the teaser seems to be a watch crown, something not present on the Huawei Watch 2 or the more recent Huawei Watch GT 2 Pro.

So, it looks like we’ll be seeing the Huawei Watch 3 in the coming days.

How much will the Huawei Watch 3 cost?

Not much is known about the potential price of the Huawei Watch 3 right now.

Given the premium nature of the £329/$299 Huawei Watch 2, and the fact that the equally premium Huawei Watch GT 2 Pro costs the same £329, we’d expect something similar from the Huawei Watch 3.

We can’t see Huawei shipping the Watch 3 for much cheaper, especially if it’s one of the first devices running its new HarmonyOS operating system.

What should I expect from the Huawei Watch 3?

There have been plenty of “Huawei Watch 3” rumours since the release of the second-gen wearable back in 2017, but these have all turned out to either be fake or based on a different wearable in Huawei’s expanding ecosystem.

So, what do we really know about the Huawei Watch 3 right now? Given the teaser posted to Weibo, it’s possible the Huawei Watch 3 will follow the likes of the Apple Watch Series 6 in offering a watch crown with software integration, allowing you to scroll, open apps and maybe access Huawei’s virtual assistant Celia.

Also, given the fact that the Huawei event is framed as a HarmonyOS event, it’s almost certain that the Huawei Watch 3 will be one of the first devices running Huawei’s long-awaited mobile operating system.

Leaker Changan Digital King has provided a few key details on the upcoming watch. Also posted on Chinese social networking site Weibo, Changan suggests that the Huawei Watch 3 will have a battery that’ll last at least three days on a single charge, and it could have e-SIM support too.

Where it gets a little more interesting – and a little fantastical if we’re being honest – is the claim that the Huawei Watch 3 will be able to screen for heart disease, and it might offer all-day body temperature monitoring too.

With the announcement likely only days away, it’s not long until we find out for sure. We’ll update this article with any new rumours or leaks in the meantime, so check back soon for the latest details on the Huawei Watch 3.
